October 29, 2015 nine miles north of Port Orford, Oregon the Cape Blanco Lighthouse rests its conical tower at the western most point in Oregon. It’s cliff top perch places it 265 feet above the Pacific. It is the oldest standing lighthouse structure in Oregon commissioned in 1870 and automated in 1980.
Umpqua River Lighthouse is located 3 miles south of Reedsport, Oregon net Winchester Bay. This lighthouse was first illuminated in 1934 after it was built to replace the original 1866 lighthouse and 1908 structures that wash away in storms.
The current structure stands 65 feet off the ground and 165 feet above sea level. This area of the coast is mostly sand dunes .
